2017 Ram 1500 Features New Truck Bed Lights
The 2017 Ram 1500 is one of our favorite Dodge Ram models–filled to the brim with fan-favorite components; this pickup continues to surprise even the most devoted Ram driver. One of the most exciting details people have been picking up on is the 2017 Ram 1500’s built-in truck bed lights.
For years, drivers have been asking for specially-designed lights to help illuminate the truck bed of the 1500 and now Ram has finally delivered. The lights are controlled using a switch under the main light switch on the vehicle’s dashboard. If you’re arriving home after a long day of kicking up dust on the work site or on the open road, simply flip the switch and you’ll never need to use a flashlight again.
At Ram, we understand that the details are what separates our vehicles from the rest of the pack. The freshly re-vamped Ram 1500 is a prime example of the automaker’s attention to the small features that make Ram so special.
The Ram 1500 showcases FCA’s famous Uconnect infotainment system, a super easy to use, highly efficient piece of technology that’s accessible through an 8.4-inch touchscreen on the dashboard. The system includes helpful turn-by-turn navigation, touch commands that control components like the truck’s heated and cooled seats, and more. Drivers and passengers can even link up their devices through Uconnect to play music, make hands-free phone calls and access their favorite apps. The Uconnect system is one of the few to earn an “Excellent” rating from Car and Driver.
Drivers who opt for the Ram 1500 Rebel will enjoy automatic dual-zone climate control, remote start, a premium gauge cluster, a backup camera and rear-park assist, a security alarm, and a limited slip differential. If the Laramie Longhorn is more your style, you’ll also get LED bed lighting, keyless entry, auto high-beams and rain-sensing wipers.
The Ram 1500’s most exciting feature might just be the unique package under its hood–the truck is the only full-size pickup that is available with a diesel engine.
The Ram 1500 comes standard with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Optionally, drivers can switch that out for the 5.7-liter V-8 engine (capable of making 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque) or the top-tier turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 engine which will get you 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.
All of the Ram 1500’s available engine options pair seamlessly with the vehicle’s eight-speed automatic transmission.
